This writer much to enjoy in the Todak offered by Likha Pilipino Folk Ensemble.. Choreographer Ramon Obusan's version of a Bagogo harvest dance (A todak is the bamboo pole used to dig holes for rice, but they served here as percussive instruments.) Indeed, it was the subtle and intricate play of rhythms between the dancers and the musicians (on gongs, drums and jew's harp) that kept at least observer wishing for more. Were the odd headdresses and crisscross patterns in the costumes intended to suggest pineapples?
