US-Canada Summer Festival road show taking off

Inquirer.net 08/06/2007 -- LIKHA travels to Toronto, Canada for the first Making Waves festival on the shores of Lake Ontario. The festival is part of the annual World Routes program at Harbourfront Centre. LIKHA is a frequent visitor to Canada but this is our first time in Toronto, a city with a very proud Pilipino community.

Philippine news Web site Inquirer.net previewed the show which was the result of lots of hard work and organizing. They wrote:

Bay Area folk groups will go on reverse border-crossing to Canada—the Likha Pilipino Ensemble and master kulintang musicologist Danongan "Danny" Kalanduyan.

With them will be jazz pianist Boy Katindig, kundiman queen Lirio Vital, visual artist Cota Yabut, photographer Sharon "Waves" Garcia and artist Bren Bataclan from Project Smile Boston. From the Philippines, actor-director Cesar Montano is coming with 40 new works in oil, with Gardy Labad's preview theatrical cast of Sandugo. Also coming is Tagbilaran mayor Danny Neri, eager to show how Bohol history can be better understood through interactive public performances.
